Our founders, Benoit Collette and Erick Waldman

Lazerwood,cofounded in 2010 by two designers, Erick Waldman and Benoit Collette,developed an iPhone 4 case solution that emanates natural aesthetic finishesbut fits flawlessly with the phone’s uniquely thin design. Shopping for theirown iPhone 4 cases proved fruitless, so the resourceful duo created theprototype that is now Lazerwood. Colleagues and friends began requesting coversto purchase and a brand was born. 

“We wanted something that didn’t add bulk, orcompete with the incredible design of the iPhone,” said Waldman. “Thin woodveneer seemed like the perfect choice.”

Staying true to the sleek and clean visualstyle of the iPhone, Lazerwood cases are designed to adhere solidly to thephone, without any damage. Using the warmth and beauty of real wood veneer, thecases are precision-cut to fit the back and sides of the phone.

“I love the natural feel of the wood,”Collette adds. “It’s amazing how comfortable it makes the phone feel.”

Lazerwood products are all manufactured insmall batches in the heart of Seattle Washington. The initial team of 2 hasexpanded to the slightly larger size of 4, with creative direction provided bythe founding partners.

Silence Is Golden, with it's bold use of typogrophy and saturated coverage, carries the cool signature of Attak designers. The Dutch duo of Peter Korsman and Casper Herselman produce strong work and we are proud to offer you their newest design in cherry or black.

Miles To Go it the brain child of Greg Kerr, artist and avid reader. Greg's apparel company is a sublime combination of broody art inspired by black listed reads, and cool stop-in-your-tracks T-shirts. We were more than happy to collaborate with him on a few customs covers for his shop.

Real Simple certainly needs no introduction from me. This monthly publication has become a recourse staple for my generation and has informed us of how to do everything from use that dusty crock pot to update our home computers. It is an honor to be included in their Fashionable Tech Cases article. 

I ran across the clever designs of .Free Clothing Co a couple of months ago and immediately wanted to translate a few of their ideas onto Lazerwoods. Emails, phone calls and several different proofs later and we have re-imagined thier New Balloon design for the latest Artist Series installment.

We are so pleased with the results of our collaboration with British company 3Nil. Dan Gribbon took his vision for stylish and creative sportswear and took it to another level with a beautiful cherry Lazerwood.

Mr. Barn from How to Carve Roast Unicorn and I have been chatting about putting his illustrations to good use on a Lazerwood. Best Blog Name of the day, for sure!

We have had a huge influx of custom work for apparel companies. It has been fun working with other creatives to translate their art onto our Lazerwoods. The covers below were for Jawbreaking, a very hip brand from North Carolina.

The latest addition to our Artist Series is a collaboration with illustrator Genevieve Gail. She provided us with a trio of wise birds for our already smart phone and a whimsical interpretation of a classic look. Here is a little bit about the artist in her own words.

Where did all the owls come from?

I've always loved drawing birds and my grandma gave me the coolest vintage owl necklace that inspired me to do a collection of my own.

Where do you go /What do you do to get inspired?

I'd say my biggest inspirations are music, nature, and anything vintage. I love to get my hands on new albums and just play them for hours and hours and paint or design products on the computer. I also love antique stores. They are super inspiring to me and I always leave with a million ideas swirling around in my head!

You seem to have worked in many mediums. Which is your favorite?

Hmmmm....that's a tough one! I guess it depends on what day of the week it is. I like having a mixture of different things to do- drawing, painting, making jewelry, product design- it keeps things fresh and exciting to have different creative outlets. Although I will say there's nothing better than sitting outside on a nice Georgia day with my sketchbook...
